Costumes!

How Cute!!

My roommate, Hye-Mi celebrated her first Halloween with her friends trick-or-treating around the gated community in Concordia. She borrowed a Yukata, [Japanese summer traditional outfit] from her Japanese friend and her Japanese friend bought her own Superman costume.

Her friend was helping her tie a bow, its so awesome how they tie a perfect bow!

Later her other Korean friend came in with a Hanbok [traditional Korean outfit] on!

-more pictures to come.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween! Halloween!!

I do not feel the Halloween-ness now that I'm stuck in Concordia without a car or anything to be involved with. No more usual helping out at a church anymore. Well I can make the best of it-- I have a new gym buddy, Lisa! =D Yes we can force each other to keep in shape.

Have a fun and splendid Halloween!

Made this balloon a month ago... look at it now! wrinkly old!

Mini Moments of Excitement

What a moment!

Its almost 11:00 now and Grace went somewhere and when she returned to the dorm she noticed that our neighbor has carved a pumpkin! He purposely pulled up his blinds and opened his window for all to see. The lights were off but he was on his laptop. I went outside to take a picture of it to blog later. I didn't want to seem like a stalker taking pictures so I took one from a distance. [zooming it made it blurry... since no flash].

I showed my roommate Hye-Mi and she said "its too small!". She took the camera and stood really close to the window and took a picture, people passed by and we were laughing so hard inside and giggling quietly as we went back to the dorm. It was hilarious! Maybe we are inside too much, but we really appreciate the simple things in life.

This is the close one that Hye-Mi took. Its so cute how our neighbor turned off all his lights, pulled up his blinds, and opened his window to make sure everyone who passes at night will notice the pumpkin, even if that means he has to work on the laptop in the dark. (:

[pumpkin is dotted because the picture was taken through the screen].

Opening Night [GSW]

It's Game Time!!

Indeed the rush has begun as the Golden State Warriors of Thee Bay Area play their first game, playing against none other than Salt Lake City's Utah Jazz on GSW home court.

Excited much?

We are all awaiting for the outcome.

UPDATE: Jazz 117 - GSW 96 ... Yes... sad for opening night.

Go Green

Curious?

Its not because my favorite color is green... Today in art class we were assigned to make a large, over sized postered-collage of something that promotes saving the environment. I researched a few things and simply came up with recycling. I'm still trying to grasp a concept idea on the overall look, but bear with me. You will see a finished project soon enough!

Click on this pictured link to look into ways you can help the environment and be more aware of the environment and what you do or do not dispose of in the trash.

Coming Soon...

Smash Bros. DOJO.

Apparently this is one of the most anticipated games to come out for Wii game system.

Fun fun? Its seems so.

- sorry, I'm a Kirby fan... (:

Back To School

Good Morning!

This past week and weekend were just chaotic. Most fires are contained, if not then if would be 97% contained.

I thank God for the firefighters who devoted their time and energy to prevent the fire from spreading and hurting residents.

This week was my birthday (:

I was suppose to go to Disneyland, but because of the bad air caused by the fire, I did not go.

On Friday Grace, David, and I went to Garden Grove to check out the Korean Town, but we ended up a bit lost and there was nothing much. I ended up hanging out with Stacy Louie, Grace, Anthony, Vicki, and David on Saturday. We ate at Buca Di Beppo and Yogurtland. Vicki and Anthony went crazy eating yogurt haha.

I went to LA with David after that to his hometown, Arcadia. We stayed at his friend's house [Elaine], her house is really big and I slept on the couch with the dog named Gucci.

I realized I lost my cell phone
, but for some reason I was not worried [I was a bit sad though].

I prayed and prayed and I stopped worrying. It was at my dorm the whole time and even if I didn't find it I would have been ok with it.

On Saturday night we ate at Concary, a Korean BBQ restaurant owned by Chinese people ~ it was delicious! A new experience really, and we got a large discount because David's friend knew a person who worked there. Most of david's friends speak Mandarin and this was the most Chinese I've been exposed to in a long time. -.-

Today was very tiring [so far...]. It was dark and cold outside and I had to force myself to wake up, when usually I can just get up. Communication class was interesting because of the group presentations we had. We were taught how to be in a BUZZ group and next week my group is teaching the class how to be in a Nominal Group Techniques group. (: Hope it will be good.

Santiago Fire in Irvine

This is footage of the Santiago Fire. It is roughly 15 to 30 minutes away [driving] . I could see the fire when driving down the streets and on top of Good Shepherd hill.

Santiago Fire

Arson Fire In Irvine Burns Nearly 20,000 Acres

" (CBS) IRVINE, Calif. The nearly 20,000-acre arson fire that has destroyed about a dozen homes in Orange County horse country east of Irvine was about 30 percent contained on Wednesday, as the offshore winds that have fanned the flames started to let up.

One of the most active fronts on the so-called Santiago Fire -- Orange County Fire Authority Chief Chip Prather said it was started near Santiago Canyon and Silverado Canyon roads about 5:55 p.m. Sunday, and three points of origin were identified -- was burning in the in the area of Modjeska and Silverado canyons."

Youth Specialties Behind The Scenes

Getting mind off the fire.

YS was last week and I am still waiting to finish Part 2 of my Youth Specialties blog entry. I am waiting on a few more pictures from Carolina and videos as well.

While we continue to wait for those items, we will now focus on things that were so called "behind the scene action".

Ashley jumping on the bed at Town and Country Resort Hotel.

The place was not as great as expected it to be.

Look what Kurtis found in the drawer in the girl's room. A really large men's underwear. The girls were screaming as Kurtis "took care of it"

[
He was planning to throw it over but accidentally got stuck on the tree... it was gone the next day].
During our break for dinner on the first night, we went to eat at the outdoor mall, Fashion Village Mall. Which is DIFFERENT from Mission Valley Mall which is not good. This mall however is 10x better with a large variety of restaurants.

And now for Crowder Behind The Scenes...

I love the picture of Crowder and the crowd.

Anna
is not looking at the camera because she is looking at the little boy in front of her. The boy kept on backing up while jumping, stepping on her foot every 5 seconds.

This is a Freeset Bag:

"...tells a story of one woman's journey. She used to stand with 6,000 other prostitutes in a small but well known area of North Calcutta. She did not choose her profession; it chose her. Poverty does that.... She still lives in the same area, but instead of selling her body she makes Freeset Bags. Now she has a choice, the choice to work decent hours for decent pay, to reestablish her dignity in her community and to learn to read and write..."

YS bought them and gave them to each person who attended the convention.

-More to come...

My Thank Yous Goes Out To...

On a side note...

My thanks goes out to Jason!!

He gave me a birthday gift! Not through UPS though... He gave it to Tim to give it to me during YS.
Inside the gift:

- A FULL BOX of ramen
-Two Luncheon Meat... [NOT SPAM!]
- The David Crowder Band Remedy CD [included some stickers]

-- Much Thanks.

BLACKOUT

----------------

Yes, we had a blackout at Concordia University for around 15 minutes. Grace and I were watching the "snow". Basically we were watching the ashes fall from the sky onto the plants [The ashes look like dandruff]. We are drinking lots of water, since we keep of coughing from the filthy air.

Energency Verse

From a member from my Beloved Small Group.

James 5:13-16

"Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working."

-Trust.

Emergency Update

Morning.

I woke up this morning to a strong stench of burning ashes. As I walked to class the sky was dark and a blanket of smoke covered the sky, barely showing the orange sun. Due to the Santa Ana winds, the smoke has been brought to many areas in Southern California.

On LA Daily News it reports...

"The Los Angeles County Health Officer is issuing a health alert due to the smoke and associated air pollution from fires in Malibu Canyon, Canyon Country, and the Santa Clarita area. Smoke from these fires includes small particles and gases that can cause health problems."

>> More on this article

LA Daily News also writes...

" Things got worse Monday, when several new fires sprouted, adding to the 40,000 acres - or 62 square miles - that already have burned. The worst damage was in Malibu, where a church, homes and a castle were charred."
>> More on the article

Right now San Diego has been affected by the flames as the winds continue to blow in that direction.

>> Click picture for video footage

David says that 8 cities and all major freeways are closed like the 5 and the 15. The closest one to him is in Mt Carmel, which is only 15 mins from where he lives. The sky is completely brown there. Please pray for him! Also pray for Henry and Carolina who are living in UCSD. Pray for the students and for their safety as they might be evacuated.

We can only continue to pray for safety and heath. The air is starting to get hazardous and in San Diego they are moving the animals to the hospitals for safer breathing.

EMERGENCY~

PRAY FOR US!

The last day of YS, which is today there was an announcement that a church was burned down in the Malibu wildfire which is continuing to spread!

From KNBC.com News

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger
proclaimed a state of emergency in San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties on Sunday night due to the wildfires burning in the region.
The Malibu fire was among at least 10 blazes that burned more than 35,000 acres, stretching from north of Santa Barbara to San Diego, as hot weather and hurricane-strength winds..."

>>More on the Wildfire

Grace, Paul Kim, and I live in Orange, and David, Henry, and Carolina live in San Diego. Please pray for those who are suffering from the results of this continuing fire. Please also pray for those who are around the area that they may be safe and away from harm.

The air was "foggy" with ash as we were driving back to Irvine.
On campus the air is thick and smells like burning ashes and is affecting everyone's breathing.

We are getting emails from our Admissions telling us that the fire heading towards the toll roads and have not yet been told to evacuate, but to pack just in case.

" Dear Residents,
Here is the latest information in regards to the fires burning in our area.

The closest fire to our location is located around where the 133 and the 241 tolls roads meet.
Please be aware that fire officials have not, I repeat, have not, instructed us to begin evacuation proceedings. The latest reports indicate that there is a significant distance between the University and the fire itself.

Again, please keep all windows and doors closed to minimize the amount of smoke which could enter your room. Please pray for us."

The church I wrote about earlier, well the church burned down but the cross remains standing. God has a plan for all he does and praise God for everything despite what happens.

Continue to pray for everyone near to the fire.

Youth Specialties Part 1

HELLO AGAIN!!

This weekend has been filled with endless stories and experiences that cannot be summed up into written words. I will split the entry into two parts and there will be lots of pictures!

The first day was awesome as I woke up early for class and saw the YS people at Sigma Hall! It was 8 in the morning and Tim and Justin were sleeping in our computer room and some in Allan's car. I was so glad
to see everyone again. =]

And now... The Story begins...

The theme was called Storyline, explaining our storylines as Christians, Jesus' storyline for us and more.

And now... for Crowder....

The first day we saw David Crowder Band which was QUITE exciting. We tried to get autographs before he performed but the security was tough to get around.

After the first General Session we went to take our training classes. I went to How to Effectively Minister to Middle School Girls. The speaker was Heather Flies and she was phenomenal in her illustrations and person examples.

The second General Session was even more awesome. We got really close to the stage, I could have touched his shoes!

At the end we managed to take a picture with him...

[my armpit has sweat haha just for Crowder^^v ]

Kurtis got his shirt signed...

and....

Tim got to touch his goatee. [amazing... LOOK AT HIS FACE!!].

On a more settle note...

There was this "Live Performer", by the name of Marquis Laughlin, who "theatrically" told us a Bible passage Word for Word. It was amazing, he had such emotion and he made it feel you were right there in the crowd where Jesus was.
"Marquis is an actor/producer whose life's work is enabling audiences to hear, see, and feel the God of the Bible through the words of the Bible."

I highly recommend you click on his name for the website to learn more about him, his work is riveting and inspirational.

-END... until part 2... (:
