The Film

What is eternity worth? Would you choose to live forever if it meant the end of new life? In this dark retelling of the classic children's novel, Pan has discovered a method to allow people to live forever. However, it comes with a perilous consequence: as more people become immortal, no new children can be born. Hook opposes Pan in an effort to defend mortal life, and restore the natural progression of life and death to the world.

Hook teams up with Smee, a young alchemist, and Tinker, a weapons engineer and former love of Pan, to stop Neverland’s growing empire of Lost Boys. With their special ammunition “Pixie Dust” and their resolve to destroy the Neverland that Pan has created, they work together as a dynamic and charismatic trio.

Our Story

The story of Peter Pan is inspiring and intriguing for most people undergoing a period of change in their life, especially the transition from youth to adulthood. The story itself poses many questions to its readers about youth and the frailty of life vs. the consequences of never-ending life. Hidden within this story, I’ve always found a breath of solemness and darkness; a deeper discussion of the fear of growing old and dying, rather than a playful adventure to a magical world of fairies, mermaids, and pirates.

Our story strives to bring those deeper themes to light. Rather than focusing on the magic of Neverland, 'Pan’ explores the question: does life lose its value if you can live forever? Is mortality something that should be feared? Or is the certainty of death what gives life meaning? These debates serve as the plot foundation in our story. This is the struggle of Pan and Hook.

Not only is it our goal to tell a meaningful and invested story, we also wish to devote ourselves to the highly visual world that we imagine this story to exist in. Neverland should be an infusion of magic and science. Hence why we have chosen to portray our version with elements of Steampunk.

The Impact

It is common for most student or young filmmakers to tell stories set in easily accessible locations, with easy to obtain props, costumes, and actors. As a group, we desire to push ourselves further. It is our hope that we can inspire ourselves, as well as other groups of filmmakers, to achieve new heights in storytelling. New Media shouldn't be limited to blogs and cat videos alone. In the never-ending realm of cyberspace, artists should be free to share their creativity and explore thought provoking themes.

What We Need

Any contribution that you can make will go towards making this project a reality, and will be so appreciated. We have developed a budget plan that will make each and every dollar count towards something that is important to the series.

Here are the expenses that we anticipate:

1. Hiring SAG Actors- We want to support the acting community and tell the story with the best people for these characters.

2. Light rentals- we wish to capture our hard work with the best resources possible. As a crew we have an effective collection of camera and sound equipment already. We would like a solid budget to rent lights to visually enhance our project.

3. Food for the crew- We have a handful of very generous and talented people helping with this project for free including fight choreographers, special effects makeup artists, soundtrack composers and our film crew. We would at the very least like to offer them a meal and snacks during the hours they work. This is often one of the biggest yet overlooked expenses of a film shoot.

4. Location Permits- The places where we can most effectively achieve our visual aspirations for this film will require some permits, like the cliffs of the ocean or a city Park. The permits usually cost anywhere from $20 to $100. We would like to do things right instead of being those people who get chased off the beach with their camera and a Pirate costume. Although, that's always fun.

5. Art Department, Props and Costumes- Now the fun part. The rest of our budget after we have properly fed the crew, and given ourselves the best chances of success, we will invest in making the series as fun, involved, and creative as possible. Steampunk guns will be made from water/nerfguns, drawings and sketches of Neverland will cover the walls of Hook's Lair, and a mermaid tail is being created for us if we can cover the expenses of the materials to make it! And our actors will look like the characters as you've never imagined them before.

The best news is we already have a lot of these resources in place; we just need the monetary means to take advantage of them in the most cost effective ways possible.

What can you get from your investment?

This is not something that will be shot and sent away to a film festival where you may never see it, it is something that will be web based and therefore an automatic return to you the contributor. You are our intended audience! We will also include in our campaign behind-the-scenes videos of our progress and experiences along the way. Feel free to comment, offer ideas, advice or requests! Also check out our perks, and take advantage of what we offer as incentives to donate.

Other Ways You Can Help

1. If you've read this far it means you have interest in our project, which is already a big encouragement to us, so thanks for stopping by.

2. Share this with one person, or maybe two! The more people that look at this page and perhaps donate even one dollar will make such a big difference. Wouldn't it be awesome if our special thanks section in the credits were longer than our entire video?!

My bosses got married this past weekend.

We had a good few days off before we started working again. Congrats to them both. My two bosses (founders of the company)

Here is the bride, all the office girls and I in the picture.

The happy couple. It was an outdoor wedding at a hotel resort over looking the beach in Santa Monica.
